Benefits of Asphalt Pavement

Asphalt is the most versatile pavement material available. It can be applied to handle any load and can be customized to absorb noise, to provide a smooth surface for traffic and to provide visual appeal to homes or parking structures.

Asphalt pavements provide smooth driving surfaces combined with the excellent traction. Whether on the road, in a commercial parking lot or at an airport, asphalt pavement provides the best value with the lowest life cycle cost and the highest residual value.

The benefit of a smooth driving surface coming from an asphalt pavement sounds like a great benefit. Reading about it reminded me of the work that I would probably need to do on my driveway. Now that there are large cracks all around the driveway, I guess it would be time to change it.

I didn’t know that asphalt could be customized to absorb noise. That would be a wonderful feature, especially in a noisy city. Do certain materials have to be added to achieve this, or is it he way it is applied?

  5. My wife and I have recently purchased a new home that has a terrible driveway. We have been considering replacing it with a new surface. I had no idea that asphalt was able to absorb noise so nicely. That definitely makes it an attractive option.

  6. I didn’t realize how versatile asphalt was. It’s good to know that it is a useful material both cosmetically and practically as it is smooth and can reduce noise. I personally am surprised at how loud some other types of pavement can be as people drive by at higher speeds. Quieter is better in my book!

  7. I really like the idea of an asphalt driveway and walkway. It’s cool that it can be made to absorb noise. I wake up when my wife backs out of the driveway, so having an asphalt one might be better.

  9. I prefer asphalt and concrete driveways for patios, yards and lawn paths. These type of driveways are less expensive and require little maintenance. There is no chance of weeds to grow on it because of its uniform surface.

Wonderful blog. Great info about one of, if not the most, over looked material in the world. Who knew about asphalts noise cancelling properties?! And lets not get into how good it can look when done properly. Overall, nice post.

As a new owner of a paving contractor company, I enjoyed your article and agreed on the versatility of asphalt paving, versus concrete paving. Even in the cost, asphalt paving has a better price at the end, and more flexibility.
